The Ministry of Education Monday announced the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024. The ranking framework evaluates institutions on five broad parameters — teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity and perception. The higher educational institutes are listed under 16 categories — overall, universities, medical, engineering, management, law, architecture and planning, colleges, research institutions, pharmacy, dental, agriculture and allied sectors, state funded government universities, skill universities, open universities and innovation.
This year, the evaluation criteria have also been modified. It is notable that the faculty-to-student ratio has been changed from 1:15 to 1:10 in medical institutes, while it was increased from 1:15 to 1:20 in the state government universities.
According to the NIRF Ranking 2024 Update: IIT-Madras, IISc Bengaluru, IIM-A and AIIMS have been top institutes in the country. In the specialized healthcare rankings, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham achieves 7th position among India's top universities. Ranked 8, Amrita School of Medicine is also in the top 10 medical colleges in the country according to NIRF 2024.
Further results show that Amrita School of Pharmacy is ranked 13 in the Pharmacy Education Category while Amrita School of Dentistry ranked 14 in the Dental Education Category. This performance is ample testimony to the vision of world-renowned standards in higher education.
