This presentation is an introduction to the importance of the currently evolving approach to health through integrative medicine. The presentation hinges on a root cause, a bio-socio-environmental approach to health and wellness. Conditions are identified, and treatments are individualized.
The purpose of our scientific integrative medicine (SIM) course is to expand your knowledge of using integrative medicine techniques related to acupuncture, laser acupuncture, myofascial release, manual therapy (massage), and botanical therapies. The SIM course encompasses our primary pillars at CuraCore® using the Medical Acupuncture and Integrative Neuromodulation® (MAIN® ) approach. Practitioners will learn how to develop acupuncture treatment protocols using the Medical Acupuncture and Integrative Neuromodulation® approach, founded on neuroanatomic acupuncture and osteopathic medical principles.
To achieve physiological restoration, the program helps build MAIN® treatment protocols restore normal physiologic function by neuromodulation of central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous system pathways and by targeting myofascial dysfunction. This includes the need to refine myofascial palpation skills in order to assemble a congruent and insightful determination of the somatic component of common physiologic imbalances that often accompany pain and chronic illness. Furthermore, clinicians perform myofascial release (direct and indirect) in order to amplify and extend the value of acupuncture interventions.
The presentation describes what integrative medicine is, and it teaches the basics of the “body-mind” or “brain-vagina” axis. The lecture breaks down the broad categories of endocrinology, nutrients, microbiology, biochemical processes, environmental influences, genetic predisposition and how they contribute to health.
Specific focus is placed on the following areas:
The course aims to explain the scientific principles of laser therapy and light emitting diodes (LEDs). Participants will practice treatments involving photomedicine devices for pain and neurologic dysfunction. Regarding botanical interventions, the lectures describe how cannabis affects the nervous system and pain problems and recognize typical cannabis formulations patients access as medical marijuana approaches for pain and disability.
In addition, the curriculum seeks to expand awareness about non-cannabis options in botanical medicine to treat pain and anxiety. Students will critique labels of readily available botanical products in order to assess quality and reliability.

The primary goal is to offer patients more ways to avoid opioid-based prescription medications by diversifying options to address acute and chronic pain. By identifying these strategies, we strengthen integrative medical care by identifying scientific and evidence-based options. Ultimately, the purpose is to diversify integrative medical options in order to tailor treatment recommendations to patietns’ specific needs, desires, and goals.
