The Global Health Institute (GHI) is a four-day virtual program in global health for high school students. Undergrad TAs will assist program instructors & work directly with students learning about global health with a focus on Africa. The program builds on four core perspectives:
Cecilia Atieno has served in the position of program assistant with SIT Kenya since 2017. Atieno is multitalented and her job is equally multifaceted. She holds a certificate in guidance and counseling and in HIV counseling and testing. Atieno is also the program’s logistics person, taking the lead on many tasks that help make students comfortable, adjusted, and equipped to function in the local cultural context. She enjoys working with students on weekend and homestay projects, designed as part of experiential learning on the research methods and ethics course.
Juliet Odida most recently joined SIT as a program assistant and Kiswahili instructor. Juliet Odida holds a bachelor’s in English and literature from Moi University and has served as a secondary school English teacher. She served as a peer educator with I Choose Life Africa and an Evidence-Based Intervention Facilitator with National Organization of Peer Educators. Additionally, she worked as a language and cross-culture facilitator with Peace Corps Kenya. Odida is passionate about working with communities to empower adolescent girls and young women by creating awareness and nurturing hope through education, mentorship, and meaningful dialogue.
