ECG Interpretation Course and Cardiology Workshop

The ECG Interpretation course is designed to provide healthcare professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to interpret electrocardiograms (ECGs). An ECG is a diagnostic tool used to assess heart function and diagnose various cardiac conditions. This course covers the fundamental principles of ECG interpretation, including how to identify different cardiac rhythms and abnormalities, and how to interpret ECG findings in the context of clinical presentations.

Annual ECG Workshop

Our annual ECG workshop returns! This time it will be hosted by consultant cardiologist from KCH, Dr Nicholas Gall, on the 2nd of December at 5:30-6:30pm. The event will take place at Room G12, New Hunts House, Guy's Campus, London SE1 1UL.

Workshop Agenda

The agenda for the RCP LONDON-IRAQ ECG workshop features professional insights from leading experts:

  • QRS, Axis Voltage & chamber hypertrophy: by Prof. Hilal Al-Safar.
  • ECG in Ischemia & Infarction: by Prof. Amal Al-mrayati.

Course Material and Learning Objectives

The material includes a comprehensive study of the anatomy and physiology of the heart and cardiovascular system and the electrical conduction system of the heart. Participants will gain knowledge on:

  • ECG waveform interpretation and ECG leads and placement of electrodes.
  • ECG abnormalities and arrhythmias.
  • ECG artifact and how to recognize and eliminate them.
  • ECG machines and equipment.
  • ECG measurements and calculations, such as heart rate and intervals.
  • ECG as a diagnostic tool for various heart conditions.

Certification and Level

This is an intermediate level course that provides a certificate of completion. The curriculum was last updated on September 3, 2024.
