Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD): Programs and Admission Requirements

DMD at the University of Szeged (Hungary)

The University of Szeged offers an undivided education, full-time program with a nominal duration of 10 semesters (300 ECTS). The study language is English and the award is DMD (Dentist (D.M.D. - doctor medicinae dentariae)).

Admission Requirements and Process

Applicants are required to be over the age of 18 in the year of application. The entry qualification is high school / secondary education (or higher). Essential documents include:

• Photocopy of your valid Passport or Identification Card.
• Certified copy of your High School Diploma and Certificate listing all subjects and grades.
• CV and Motivation Letter.
• Entrance examination.

Entrance examinations are held online. Applicants are required to participate in a 20-30 minute-long entrance exam, where the proficiency of the applicants is being evaluated. During the entrance exam, topics are going to be discussed from biology and chemistry based on the topic list provided in advance.

Tuition and Fees

The tuition fee is €8,000 per semester. Specifically, for the 1st semester, it is 6400 EUR tuition + 1600 EUR deposit. For the 2nd to 10th semesters, the fee is 7600 EUR. The tuition fee includes general health insurance valid for Hungary; however, it does not include the costs of summer practices, textbooks, accommodation, and living expenses. There is also a one-time application fee of €300.

Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST)

The Sarajevo School of Science and Technology provides a DMD programme with a course duration of 72 months. This program offers mentored placements and internships in a clinical setting from your first year of studies.

To apply, you must complete the University Entrance Exam and submit your High School Degree, which should include a grade report confirming the completion of 12 years of schooling. The Entrance Exam consists of three parts: English Language, one combined test for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, and a short Candidate Interview.

Financial Aid and Additional Fees

NSU offers a variety of financial aid options, including academic scholarships, employer assistance, and low-interest student loans. An acceptance fee is required to reserve the accepted applicant's place in the entering first-year class. This advance payment will be deducted from the tuition payment due on registration day, but is nonrefundable in the event of a withdrawal.

Language and Proficiency Requirements

A demonstrated proficiency in English language is required. For certain programs, an intermediate level (B2, IELTS 5.0 or equivalent) must be presented at application. English language competence is often tested during the entrance examination.
