Medical Student Scholarships 2011 Backgrounder - The College of Family Physicians of Canada

The College of Family Physicians of Canada is proud to announce the 2011 Medical StudentScholarship recipients from 17 Canadian medical schools:

Scholarship Recipient Profiles

Shahana Nathwani, University of British Columbia, has developed an interest infamily medicine through working with the College of Family Physicians ofCanada as Junior and now Senior co-chair of the Section of Medical Students(SOMS). She is most attracted to the continuity of patient care that is a hallmarkof family medicine.

Sarah Lalonde, University of Calgary, is the co-chair of the Family MedicineInterest Group (FMIG) and enjoys the opportunity to profile the diversity offamily medicine careers to other medical students. Sarah is currently doing aRural Integrated Community Clerkship for eight months to complete her medicalschool rotations.

Samantha Stasiuk, University of Alberta, had the opportunity to participate inthe Rural Integrated Community Clerkship in Whitecourt, Alberta. She isfortunate to have found family medicine as the perfect setting to combine herpassions for global health, education and medicine.

Taffeta Overli-Domes, University of Saskatchewan, is inspired by the patientsand physicians she has met and plans to pursue a career in family medicine withspecial interests in mental health, aboriginal health and women’s health. She isthe past President of the Family Medicine Club and the past University ofSaskatchewan Section of Medical Students representative for The College ofFamily Physicians of Canada.
